Lush Face Masks

Hey guys!

So today I’m bringing you another beauty review, this time it’s of Lush’s fresh face masks. I’ve had my eye on these for a while now but never got round to buying one! So while I was in Cambridge the other week, I popped in and decided to try a couple.

Originally I just wanted one to try out and treat myself for some pamper sessions , but the day of my shopping trip I woke up to a dry skin breakout, which is unusual for my skin! Lush was naturally my first place to go to sort this, as all their products are natural and I find the workers there to be so helpful about what products will work best for you. I asked one of the girls who worked there which face mask she would recommend for dry skin , and she was lovely enough to sit me down and have a proper consultation about it.  She tried out both Oatifix and Brazened Honey on the backs of my hands , while telling me all about the ingredients in both.

Oatifix is made with fresh bananas and illipe butter which are used to moisturise dry skin. It also contains oatmeal, ground almonds and kaolin which work together to exfoliate and eradicate dead skin, leaving your face super soft. It also had a nice subtle smell which reminded me of porridge with honey, and to be honest when applied it does look like you’ve wiped porridge all over your face!  Brazened Honey however contained many ingredients such as fresh fennel, ginger root, parsley , coriander,  sage, rosemary and almond oil .  The texture of this one felt more exfoliating , however I wasn’t fond of the smell of it, and since this was something I’d be applying to my face and around my nose, scent did play a big part in the decision! Hence why I also bought the Rosy Cheeks face mask , because it smelt incredible! It contains a blend of kaolin, calamine and Turkish rose oil to ‘delicately calm the skin and restore balance’.

After applying these she added some of their celestial moisturiser to my hands, which make them feel silky smooth. I was a bit weary about buying the moisturiser since my skin can be sensitive and I didn’t know how it would take to it , so the woman kindly put some in a sample tub for me to take away and try. Having used it now, I can say it is an incredible moisturiser and I’ll definitely be purchasing a full sized bottle.

So all in all I went away with the Oatifix and Rosy Cheeks face masks. Having used both for the past few weeks, I can safely say that both face masks are super lovely, however I do prefer Oatifix. Rosy cheeks smells so lovely, and applies more like a typical face mask, however I don’t feel that it had a massive impact on my skin. It was nice and refreshing to have on , and my skin felt nice afterwards, however I feel like this mask is targeted at people who have sensitive skin that needs calming down. My skin isn’t really like that, hence why this mask didn’t have much impact, but then again I did only buy it because of its gorgeous scent, oops!

Oatifix however worked like a dream at moisturising my face, and making it feel so super soft. It is a bit strange to apply as it’s very think, chunky and as I mentioned before, porridge like. When spreading it on your face the warmth of your hands makes it start to melt slightly and makes it easier to spread around, I also found not much product was needed to cover everything! I’ve used it about 5 times already and still have enough left for a couple more masks. Maybe I used it sparingly , but I found you couldn’t really layer it up so a little went a long way for me.

All in all I wholeheartedly recommend Lush’s face masks , however I do suggest asking one the workers which would work best for your skin type, because at £6.75 a tub it’s worth getting that right. Also only get one at a time, they are fresh masks so have a shelf life of 3 weeks, and since I bought two I found myself constantly having to have face masks in order to get through the tubs! Also if you finish 5 little black lush tubs and return them in store, you get a FREE face mask! Winner winner chicken dinner!
